This has been extremely helpful in my Bible Study by giving me a geographical picture of Israel and the surrounding lands of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Turkey in today's Nations and I especially liked the following of the Chronology of the Bible with the precise synopses through historic Israel. I have always been curious about places and kings, cities and states that cannot be found on modern maps or other maps that are not historically presented in their specific period. This has been critically essential to my Biblical understanding of its storyline. I can remember it more easily and can order it in my mind like I have always struggled to try to do. I use it all the time while reading through the Bible. I have been blessed tremendously and have grown exponentially in my faith while using it for about the last 2 1/2 years. Thank you William Schlegel for producing such a masterpiece.
I just received my Satelite Bible Atlas today(2-10-2019), and the first thing I notice is how those involved in making these maps completely ignored the fact the biblical scriptures puts Mount Sinai in the area of “Saudi-Arabia†not Egypt. They also ignored the biblical “Red Sea Crossingâ€Galatians 4:25... For this Agar is MOUNT SINAI IN ARABIA.Exodus 14:21-22... And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. 14:22And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.If I had known before I purchased this Atlas that they had ignored the biblical journey of the Exodus with their own take, I would have never purchased this Atlas. I hate the fact that they did this. Just because the biblical route of the Egypt exodus doesn’t make sense to you, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen exactly how the Bible says it did. I am so angry that they injected their own opinion into this map, they couldn’t leave well enough alone. The Exodus was the reason I purchased this Atlas; I’m so disappointed with this purchase. Are there any Bible Atlas out here that actually show Mount Sinai being located in Saudi Arabia like the Bible says?
Great reference. Gives you a realistic idea of distance and terrain that was traveled in Biblical times
This is the best atlas I've ever had. I use it as I read through the Bible, and I don't know how I ever really read the Bible before without it. As we live in Jordan, we use it for local sites, as well as when we travel over to Israel. Even if you don't live in the Middle East, but you want to know more about the Bible, I would strongly recommend this atlas.
A really excellent bible atlas. In most cases the text is on the page facing the map which it is describing. The maps are organised so that events in the Bible can usually be followed in chronlogical order.Although there is no index of Bible references it is usually fairly easy to find which map will be appropriate to a particular passage of the bible. The events on any map are numbered and the appropriate passages listed.Very well thought out (due to Mr Schlegel's ability and experience of teaching late teens/early 20s in the Holy Land) with the right mix of geography, history, and a little archaeology. Highly readable and above all it closely follows the Bible. One minor improvement I would like is for the maps to be based on satellite collected topographical data (eg SRTM) showing the land in shaded relief, rather than actual photos. Being more used to the former I find I tend to think of the shadows as defining hills rather than ravines.
If you want an incredibly awesome atlas of the lands of the Bible, this is the book for you.
Outstanding. Using this for research on a couple of upcoming books. It is proving to be invaluable.
Excellent satellite photography overlaid with geographical and place names. Well written geo and historical descriptions which are accurate as far as I can discern. Excellent Bible study tool I've needed for years.
