This is totally kid friendly, unlike the original version this does not include la muerte or el diablo. All the cards are thick so I’m confident that it will hold up for a long time.
This is such a beautiful product! The game boards and the cards are made of a really nice, thick cardboard and are wonderfully illustrated.My husband is Mexican and we play Loteria whenever the family gets together for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our two year old wanted to play with the adults this Thanksgiving, so when we got home I started looking for the traditional game to purchase and found this instead and could not be happier! She’s still too young to really understand how to actually play, but she LOVES looking at the cards and has already started picking up the vocabulary.
I’m a counselor for a school district and I bought this for my kids. I work with kids that know very little Spanish and work with others that just immigrated from Mexico and know very little English. The smiles and the confidence on each child when they get to read these cards out loud, is magical. It is incredible what Lil Loteria is doing for these kids. This game is doing what I hoped it would do, build confidence for every child I encounter.
Every day after he finishes his homework, my six-year-old nephew comes and asks me to play Lil LoterÃa with him. He doesn’t even realizes he’s basically just doing more homework because it’s so much fun. I get a kick out of watching him learn the words in Spanish and English. I also love when he gets his older sister and cousins and grandma to play. It gets so competitive. And it reminds me of my childhood. And to top it all off, the cards are top quality pieces of art. Great all around.
My two year old absolutely loves this game, she immediately grasped the concept and asks to play it daily. The game cards and calling cards are made of thick enough material that it could withstand a toddler. I would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a fun game the entire family will enjoy.
We played with three adults and three children who have all played traditional loteria. By comparison, and I realize it is a different game, this game was very slow and eventually boring. I think the traditional version is more fun and just as educational as this one claims to be. However, I gave it two stars because it could be a good memory game if the kids like it.
I play the original game with my family during parties so I had to buy this for my son! It should a great game rules are pretty easy for a year 4 year old to understand. I love the fact that it’s bilingual and I can help my son with his Spanish with a simple game. The graphics on the pictures are cute and nicely done. This is a great game for any family.
My daughter loves the game. I play it with her all the time. The quality of the art is fantastic and the game materials are sturdy and hold up really well to my three yr old toddler handling them.
