I was so nervous waiting for the editors to finish up Red Mountain Rising that I had to do something all-consuming with my time. Since the beginning of The Red Mountain Chronicles, Margot has come alive in my head in a wildly vivid way. So I couldn't resist writing a story from her point of view (in first person), exploring Margot's life in Vermont and what led her to Washington State.There were times during the writing process when I would wake up unsure for a moment of whether I was Boo Walker, a writer in St. Pete, or Margot, a mid-forties homemaker and mother in Vermont fighting to save her marriage.As you can imagine, I've never had so much fun with a project, and there's a good chance you're going to question my sanity at some point during the reading.

If you’re a fan of Boo Walker's Red Mountain series, you’re sure to enjoy this prequel that introduces the eccentric Margot! Walker’s novella stands entirely on its own and is a pleasure to read - even if you’re unfamiliar with the Red Mountain series.While I couldn’t say that I necessarily related to Margot's passive aggressive nature, I certainly rooted for her throughout the entire story and couldn’t wait to find out what other crazy schemes she’d concoct to release her “pressure valve” while trying to save her marriage.This book is the perfect escape and I love how Walker has the ability to create and develop his characters in a way that makes you fall in love with them.

Since I've read the Red Mountains books, I was excited to read this prequel and learn more about Margot. It was fascinating to read the "story behind the story". In the Red Mountain books, the reader is told how Margot ended up in Washington State, but never given specific details. A Marriage Well Done gives the details, and they are fascinating ones!!!!! In some ways, I wish I read this first because I would have seen Margot as the warrior she really is and I would have appreciated her new life more than when I read Red Mountain.Boo Walker's writing is superb. His characterizations are spot on, the plot moves at just the right speed, and his ability to write dialogue, accurate. He has a way of telling a story that a lot of writers lack. He doesn't over-do the descriptions, but the reader still gets a true sense of the story, the scenery, and the emotions of the characters. Some authors excel in one area, but miss the mark in others. Mr. Walker hits them all.I absolutely loved this book, as I've loved the other books I've read by Boo Walker. This is an awesome read!!!!!

I was fortunate enough to read Walker's suggestion of reading "A Marriage Well Done" prior to starting the Red Mountain series. I followed that suggestion and was pleased to have the background information as I read the R.M. series. The story was well developed and set the tone for arrival of the reader at Red Mountain. I've read the three books of this "trilogy" or the the Red Mountain series and am now on Low Country Punch. I've enjoying having found Walker's work!

Boo's writing makes you feel like you are having a real conversation with Margot. Almost like two friends sitting together talking about life. This book reveals the whys and hows of Margot going to Red Mountain. You laugh, cringe and want to see her succeed and be happy. Lots of great moments in the book. I love all of the Red Mountain Series!

I really did devour the pages of this book and I'll tell you why at the expense of exposing my female instincts. Margot is a woman who barely maintains her sanity and survives a a crumbling marriage by wicked imagination. In the midst of our New England, winter, I found a book to snuggle up to for not enough nights of wicked pleasure. She has a friend in me, this Margot. A Broadway ex, her lust for a passionate marriage accompanied by the perfect meal consumes her. Do we want her marriage to succeed? Hell no, where is the fun in that? I wonder if others are as satisfied as I am with the ending of this chapter in the life of Margot. I ordered Mr. Walker's Red Mountain the night before finishing this delectable slice of life and read chapter one this morning. (Hey, Boo, I am writing this while our 2010 DoubleBack cab from Walla Walla eats some air. In the background Art Tatum croons. Keep 'em coming, Boo.

I recently discovered this author.... and read about his novels.... and saw that this was a prequel to the Red Mountain series.... I love watching characters develop and really getting into their lives when reading, so I got all of these books on my Kindle - then read them in order. A Marriage Well Done is a great story - and does a good job getting you hooked into these characters lives.... I spent most of the novel wondering what was wrong with this marriage... and then moved right on to the Red Mountain series. Impressed with how well a male author captured this female perspectives of the novel too. Highly recommend Boo Walker!

It is easy to see how Margot loses herself in the fight to keep her life as it is and then wonder if that is what she really wants after all. This book is not only a great character study but also gives us the back story for Margot, one of the central characters of the Red Mountain Chronicles. Margot’s journey takes many twists and turns and prompts us to ask ourselves, “how far would I go?”. So, settle in and enjoy the journey, it’s never bland and always richly satisfying😊

This was my first book to read by Boo Walker! Was I surprised! I was hooked! So glad Amazon picked his books up. I was fortunate to have discovered "A Marriage Well Done" as a prequel. I wish more writers would introduce their main characters in this way. You will not be bored!!! Humor is threaded throughout this very real character development. I couldn't wait to read Red Mountain and was not disappointed. 5 stars!
